Bud and Max Stole my Heart

This is Max. Unfortunately I have no digi pics of Bud.

Bud and Max Stole my Heart

Jake is the ruler of my house & heart now.

Your Cat's Name, Age (when adopted and now), and Gender

Bud & Max (They were 2 when adopted. Bud passed at 18 and Max passed two years ago at 23.)

Other cats adopted after the "breakthrough" cat

Leo was adopted after Max passed, but he died of lung cancer two months after he was adopted. Jake was adopted in August 2008 and rules the house now.

How I met my first cat

Bud and Max belonged to my roommates in a group house. I didn't want a cat, but my roommates kept bringing home little sick kittens from the local pet store. Bud and Max were the only survivors. When the owner sold the group house, my roommates decided they were going to put Bud & Max to sleep rather than pay pet fees. By this time, these two guys had worked their way into my heart.

How this cat wormed its way into my heart

I was attending the university and my classes at lunchtime were on TV. I would eat lunch while watch classes and taking notes. Bud & Max would crawl all over me, begging for some food and just being adorable. I had always been a dog person, but these guys became my kids.

Advice

  • Cats are sweet, independent, wonderful creatures. I would seriously recommend pet insurance! As they grew older, both developed their own health issues and I spent tens of thousands of dollars to make them comfortable. I would do the same thing today, but the cost was very surprising at first. The last couple years for Max I spent an average of $400 per month on him. In return he gave me immeasurable love and joy.
