Trudy

Trudy receives no adjectives, because they are beside the point. She was my first cat, but that isn't the reason that she'll forever be the cat by which all others are measured. She's not explicitly the most anything cat. She's too quiet, too wise.

smokey and tiger

Tiger and Smokey, littermates, I had you both for 19 years and the day after we had your brother put down because of kidney problems you let me know it was time for you also. You just missed him so much and I still miss you both so much it hurts sometimes.

My Beautiful Benjamin

Benjamin and Billy were two twin tabby and white boys, rescued when they were about 6 weeks old. As foster kitties, Ben was always the shyest. Several months ago, I noticed he was losing a lot of weight, so he went to have tests. It came back very bad, his kidneys had shut down and he was full of toxins in his blood and urine. He also had lesions in his mouth and very inflamed gums. He was so sick and would have required a long hospital stay before he could be strong enough for surgery, so I made the decision to let him go. His brother Billy also had the lesions and inflamed gums, but he was tested as well. October 1st, Billy had his top molars pulled, and on November 12th had the rest of his teeth extracted, so at 17 months old, he has no teeth anymore, but he's doing fine. I'm sure he will probably with with me forever - sadly, who is going to want to adopt a kitty with no teeth? But this is supposed to be a tribute to my little Ben, who was one of my favorite foster kitties ever.

Foster Mom

As a foster mom, I have had many kitties pass through my home. Laila a little black kitten, rescued from a woodpile with her calico sisters when they were 6 weeks old. Eveyone was "tested", however, when she was about 9 months old, she got sick - diagnosis - feline leukemia. Since she lived with 9 other kitties, everyone had to be tested (all negative) but she had to be isolated in a cage in the basement. She rebounded for a month or so, and then went into a total downward spiral, losing every bit of weight she had gained plus more in one week. She purred till the end, as I held her and wished her happiness and health at the bridge. She was a beautiful little soul and I miss her so much. She was not even 11 months old. Fortunately, 3 months later, all the kitties she lived with tested negative again. Mom loves you Laila!

my best friend

I found sassy outside my kitchen window meowing one day. I opened the window and gave her some meat and she was hooked. She wouldn't let me get near her so it took alot of coaxing to get her to let me pet her. It was Feb and it was cold and snow was on the ground. I felt bad so i made a bed for her in the garage. The people that lived their before us had a cat outside to so they had a cat door on the garage door. So she got to come and go as she pleased. We became very close. she did every thing with me. she'd take walks with me, sit by the pool with me, and sit on the swing with me. She was the best cat in the whole world. We only had her for 11 months before she got hit by a car. She's been gone for 10 months and i still can't believe she's gone. Sometimes i think i see her out of the corner of my eye or i think i hear her meowing behind me. I miss you very much sassy. I'll see you again when its my time.

Giving thanks for:

Seamas & Shareen, twins, 11 years old. Seamas, the smallest male. Rules the roost & complains if things are not to his liking or if he needs some "mommy love". Shareen "Reenie", my fluff muffin who is "all mine"-a definite mommy's girl & the only kitty who crawls under the covers with me. Liam, my golden boy, my "Wee-am", now the largest cat in the house. Just a big baby who tries to act tough ... becoming more & more of a mommy's boy every day. Cailin (Colleen), born feral in my store room, now the Grand Colleen with Her Eyes of Green, every bit the calico coquette with a whole lot of tomboy thrown in. Deirdre, my puffball face-washing machine, part-Persian beauty who arrived as a "specials needs" foster. Deirdre is a tripod, but that doesn't stop her from living life to its fullest. Sean, came the same time as Deirdre & is my sweet little pretty-boy! Loves to give head butts & adores Seamas. Memories of Jennie, now on the Bridge-never to be forgotten & still loved.

Veritas

I was going through one of the toughest times of my life in 2001. I was away from home and trying to work some things out when I met Veritas. I was sitting outside with some new found friends when all of a sudden this very big, very fluffy but very dirty and skinny cat came wandering over and just jumped into my lap!! He started to purr right away and loved affection....I felt like it was a gift from God and it was EXACTLY what I needed at that moment. He was still there the next morning and I brought him out some food which he gobbled right up. It got very cold that night and so I put a nice box with blankets outside and he slept inside happily. If he had a family nearby he wasn't going to them...but I got the feeling he'd been homeless for sometime. After about 10 days of trying to find his home I decided it was meant to be....I had already named him Veritas which means 'truth' in Latin. He came home with me and life got much better for both of us. It was meant to be!!

My Minky

My little Minky was a Christmas gift from my daughter 4 years ago. The poor little guy had fleas and ear mites and we thought he was a she until the first vet visit. Minky is very special and is the most beautiful and loving kitty I have ever known. He sleeps with me, watches TV with me and waits patiently by the door for me to come home from work. I am so thankful that this wonderful Kitty has come into my life and I wouldn't trade him for anything in the world. I love you "my little Minky"!!

Pierre

Pierre went to heaven on November 5, 2007. But he is not forgotten. When I was sick he would always stay by my side. If Pierre saw me crying he would lick my tears. He was a very special cat and I am happy to have been blessed with having Pierre for 10 years.

Memories of Cats Loved & Lost

While there have been so many cats in my life-all who left far too soon-Jaz (Jasmine)left me only a little over a year ago.She was a very special friend. She and I were truly bonded. She also loved very strongly-my dog-who died much too early (7)-and she grieved for her as I did. We comforted each other & our bond grew deeper. She would lay in my lap & turn to look in my eyes,purring-& then reach up and stroke my cheek with her paw. I felt her love! She was a FUNNY cat-always playing & thinking up "jokes" to play. She was beautiful too-long hair-white w/black markings over her eyes & on her body. And her eyes-they seemed to be lined with eyeliner-truly gorgeous!Every night she slept in my lap, every morning she sat at my feet by the table. She had learned the word "milk" & if you asked if she wanted it, she would sit up & tap you w/her paw & Meow. She died quickly-no warning-suddenly could not breathe & did not make it to the vets. My heart feels so cold without her..as is my empty lap...

Something About My Cats...

I still can't believe that, I used to be fearful of cats, and I think it stems back to my childhood, and how my mom didn't like cats at all. I, on the other hand, was more scared of them, really not undertanding them though. One afternoon, I was sitting in a lounge chair outside and I saw a little, tiny kitten wander over to my yard and right over to me! I was surprised b/c cats usually never took to me before, but this cat did take to me right away, and I to her. I was able to adopt the kitten, and I named her Matilda - Tilly for short. She was a Calico and she definitely brought me luck! I will always remember my first cat that I've ever had. Since then I have had a lot more cats, but like a firstborn, my first cat is a beautiful animal I will never, ever forget!

The Cats We've Loved

I have had as partners seven cats in my lifetime. Puddles was our first, 18 pounds of love. Next came Lucky, who in due time gave birth to Rusty and Peppy, whom we had for 14 years. Then my partner, Joyce, came with Coco her cocker and 3 cats--her Siamese Xanthippe ,the loving, Alice the shy calico and ZsuZsi the Moo, the charismatic character who could open doors by swinging on the knobs. Since then, we have known Patchy the bandit, who came with leukemia, Sir William the Unsilent, half Siamese, whom we lost on Halloween Eve at 19. We love all our ghosts, and miss them every day.

My Beloved Sebastian

Sebastian and I first adopted each other in May of 2002. When he was just a kitten of about 2 months old. Needlesws to say it was love at first sight for the two of us. He was a big beautiful brown tabby weighing in at about 25lbs..The vet told me that he was part Maine Coon cat (the shelter had him listed as a DMH)the only two things they got right were his sex and his color. He was such a love bug. Sebastian just wanted to be loved and cuddled. I will forever love him and miss him terribly. He was my best friend and when he died a part of me died with him. He was such wonderful company and will forever be missed. The hurt is less sharp than what it first was but it is still there. It sneaks up on me when I least expect it. So I am forever thankful for having know Sebastian even if it was only 6 short years.

Squeak and George

Squeak was my Siamese mix. I had to let him go to the Bridge on my birthday in 1985, age 17. George was my orange tabby. He was also about 17 when he left in 1999. Of the seven cats I have owned and now own, those two have left the biggest holes in my heart. Hank

my beloved tiger

When I lived in Phoenix,my children, Erik and Anna, found tiger tied up in a trash bag! She didn't even have her eyes open!I took care of her and she became a awesome cat! She looked like a little striped tiger hence her name. Tiger liked to cuddle up in anyone's lap and she adored my kids, I had her for 15 years until her death.lori
